What to Look for When Choosing Cannabis Edibles
What to Look for When Choosing Cannabis Edibles
Cannabis edibles have come a long way from brownies. Now nearly every food or beverage you can think of has been infused with cannabis extracts. There are teas, sodas, water, cookies, cake, candies, granola bars, chocolates, snack mix and more. With so many choices, how do you choose? Here are a few things to keep in mind when evaluating cannabis edibles:
Flavor
Some cannabis edibles taste incredible with barely a hint of the extract’s flavor, others taste horrible. There’s a wide spectrum of flavors out there and no reason to settle for an edible that doesn’t taste delicious! Whether it’s sweet or savory, your edible should taste good. If you don’t enjoy the flavor, it’s time to try another brand or product.
Packaging
Your edible’s packaging should look professional and contain clear instructions for dosing. While all cannabis companies must adhere to government regulations for packaging, look for companies that provide additional information about their company or products.
Easy dosing
More states are asking edible companies to clearly mark each dose of their product, typically in 10 or 20mg units. Some products like hard candies are easy to start small and incrementally increase your dose, cookies typically less so. Correct dosage is especially important if you’re new to cannabis edibles, so look for products that are easy to divide and have consistent doses.
POTENCY
Potency is, of course, a major factor to consider! How an edible affects you depends on what strains were used in the extraction process and your unique body chemistry. If your expectations aren’t met or you feel you’re having to ingest too much, try a different product or brand. There are plenty to choose from!
