HIGH ART 2020 SPOTLIGHT: NICHOLAS ARJULIAN

“The Gate of Contemplation”

Nicholas Arjulian is a freelancer graphic design and illustrator from Indonesia. He loves creating themes around, death, gloom, emptiness, the dark and the weird. He prefers to design and draw with pens on paper and then finish up  with software design systems. His art designs are inspired by the work of Harry Clarke and Aubrey Vincent Beardsley.

In the creation of this work, Nicholas visualized what he had been feeling, since burning marijuana for the first time. His heart is subject to a sense of honesty and sincerity, his body flies, his eyes dimmed,  his imagination explodes and everything feels very beautiful. He felt the miracle of being in his body. For a moment he felt calm, amazed, joyful, spinning. Each of these feelings blends like a spider web, and he  realized, slowly, that cannabis had healed him from all the harmful drugs that he had consumed.
