Get Cozy! How to Make Weed Tea for the Perfect Cup of Relaxation

When you think of weed tea, you probably think of steeping cannabis flower in boiling water like you would black or green tea, but if you do, you’ll have very poor results. There’s a little bit more to the process (just a little) but the results are a delicious cup of tea that will aid digestion, relieve anxiety and make you feel relaxed and happy. Try it for menstrual cramps!

The reason that just pouring boiling water over cannabis flowers won’t work is because cannabinoids and terpenoids are not water soluble. They will simply rise to the top of the water and stick to the cup. This also true of pure cannabis concentrates, were you to drop some directly into your water. To prevent this from happening you will need to combine the cannabis with a fat during a decarb session to release the potent compounds of the plant into something you can use. You can use butter or a light oil. This is a necessary step for both concentrates and flowers. However, if you use a cannabis tincture meant to be used with beverages, you can skip this step.

But if you want to get a little fancier, we found this delicious recipe from Posy and Kettle. You can easily personalize with fall spices like clove, nutmeg, and cinnamon. It also contains all the instructions on how to prepare a cannabis concentrate for your tea recipe.
