10TH PLACE WINNER – HIGH ART 2020 – VERA KUSHEVA
Vera Kusheva works in Moscow with a team to create a clothing brand, also doing decoupage and painting wood. Cannabis, music, history, nature, magic – are all sources of her inspiration.Russia is not friendly with cannabis, but she loves to smoke and create art in the style of Cannabis (oil painting, gouache, wood, pyrography, decoupage, photoshop).
This picture shows an ancient magician in form of the God, Thoth, performing palingenesis ritual – the rebirth of plant from the ashes (the creation of a new living organism in the flask). The Egyptian god Thoth, also known as Hermes Trismegistus, is the father of Alchemy. This ritual symbolizes distillation of a plant spirit and the recreating of a new, improved personality by the sacred science of alchemy.

High Art was created by Dona Frank and The Natural Cannabis Company in 2014 as a crowdsourcing solution to packaging design. From its humble beginnings, High Art has developed into an internationally-known art competition with thousands of entries annually from 100+ countries all over the world.
Each year professional and amateur artists create themed works through a variety of mediums to compete for $50,000 in prize money and to see their work featured on packaging, social media, at the High Art gallery in Santa Rosa, CA and displayed at prestigious art events, in the United States and abroad.
